International Exchanges
Students in both the Bachelor and Master programs can apply for the exchange program that has been activated between our Department and the Department of Geology and Geophysics of the University of Utah (Salt Lake City, Utah, USA). Students can choose to spend one or two semesters there. Courses taken at the University of Utah will then be credited upon return to Germany.
In addition, LMU has activated exchange programs with the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada), and with the University of Arizona (Tucson, USA). We also have an active ERASMUS Exchange with the University of Athens, Greece and are working on setting up additional exchange programs.
For further information please contact Prof. Dr. Anke Friedrich at Ls-Geologie@geo.uni-muenchen.de.
Incoming exchange students
Students coming to our Bachelor or Master programs as part of one of the three active exchanges listed above should inquire directly with us about the possibility of working as student assistant during the semester spent at LMU. We understand that students from these universities are already paying significant tuition fees to their institution of origin, and that spending a semester in Munich, where cost of life is also significantly higher, may be not feasible without some financial support. However, each case must be discussed on an individual basis. Such inquiries should be sent directly to Prof. Dr. Anke Friedrich at Ls-Geologie@geo.uni-muenchen.de.
